Being healthy is one of our most precious gifts… don’t take it for granted. Don’t ignore what your instincts are telling you – walking is good for YOU – after all we’ve been walking for about 117,000 years.
Just do it… go for a walk and make tracks around your neighbourhood.
Walking 10,000 steps a day is one of many ways to achieve health and
fitness goals.
? Did you know… A regular routine of walking every day can actually help you to live longer. A goal of working up to walking 10,000 steps a day or more can lower your stress, clear your mind, increase your blood circulation, and strengthen your whole body.
This is much like giving yourself a daily multi-vitamin that boosts your overall health.
Simple ways to increase the benefits of walking:
★ All steps count – walking daily can work well with your schedule because all steps count, whether walking on a trail, on town streets, a sports track, in the mall, to the office, or even doing household chores.
★ Add more steps – if you are wanting to add a simple challenge to your walking routine, you can regularly add more steps to your daily routine, working up to 10,000 steps or more per day.
★ Increase your pace – instead of increasing total steps, increase your walking pace, which can be done in slow-quick-slow intervals.
★ Add equipment – another way to change up your walking routine, add walking poles for an extra upper body workout and extra calorie burn; add light hand weights for extra resistance and extra calorie burn; add a light backpack for extra weight and extra calories burn.
★ Get a Pedometer – this is a great way to count your steps, helps to ensure you’re getting your steps in daily, and keeps track of your progress; comes in a phone app or a little device that’s attached to your body.
